Upon advice of my attorney I submitted a written request to the Richmond Board of Selectmen asking to read/copy depositions that had been filed in the case of the SBC v Town of Richmond and the Richmond 12. She said "deposition are public record and they do not fall within any of the records exceptions. There is an exception for "confidential" documents, but this means that you cannot see, for example, attorney-client privileged items. Depositions ARE NOT CONFIDENTIAL."
At 9PM tonight I received a call from the Richmond Board of Selectmen saying that the Richmond Town attorney , Mr. Tower, told them to deny my request. I am now being forced at my expense to go to Cheshire Court to have the Court demand that I have access to these depositions. Although I have deposed by the SBC, I have been named in most of the depositions, and my deposition is listed as exhibit #A in the SBC 's petition for a summary judgement against the Town of Richmond and the Richmond 12 the Town of Richmond is denying my request to read these depositions.
WHAT ARE THEY AFRAID OF?
